Confessions of a Retired Pastor
Confessions of a Retired Pastor is a candid reflection on faith, identity, leadership, money, purpose, and reinvention, told from the perspective of a man who served as a pastor for 31 years and is now learning to live after the pulpit.
Pastors, their spouses, and church leaders all share responsibility for succession planning and pastoral retirement, yet few spaces exist for honest conversation about what comes after. After 42 months of retirement, I am writing from lived experience and reflecting on what I anticipated, what surprised me, and what I am still learning.
In these essays, I share memories, observations, and practical insights from this season of life. From time to time, I also invite fellow retired pastors and leaders to join the conversation and add their voices.
My prayer is that this space becomes a thoughtful and honest resource for pastors, their families, and the churches that love them to offer wisdom, encouragement, and perspective for those preparing for, or already living in, the next chapter.
